Certified by the American Board of Orthodontics and a published researcher in his field, Dr. Alford pairs advanced clinical training with a genuine warmth that puts patients at ease from the very first visit.

Education and Training

Dr. Alford’s academic record is one of consistent excellence. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Southern Virginia University, then finished at the top of his class at Virginia Commonwealth University’s dental school. He went on to earn his Master’s Degree and Certificate in Orthodontics at the University of Iowa, one of the nation’s most respected residency programs, where he was selected as Chief Resident of his class.

He is also a published researcher. His work has appeared in the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, comparing patient experiences across braces, in-office aligners, and direct-to-consumer aligners, and in the Virginia Dental Association Journal, exploring orthodontists’ use of telemedicine. He was selected for the ADEA Academic Dental Careers Fellowship in recognition of his academic promise.
