Meet Dr. Robert Stoner, Your Greensboro Orthodontist
Making Smiles Inside & Out
Dr. Robert Stoner believes a great smile begins with a great relationship. As the lead orthodontist at Robert Stoner Orthodontics, he combines more than 16 years of experience caring for patients in the U.S. Navy with a warm, family-first approach that puts kids, teens, and adults across Greensboro at ease. Board-certified by the American Board of Orthodontics, Dr. Stoner brings advanced training and a genuine love for this community to every smile he helps create. He and his team welcome you to two convenient Greensboro offices, on Beaman Place and on Lake Brandt Road.
Education and Training
Dr. Stoner’s path to orthodontics began in his home state of Washington. He earned both his Doctor of Pharmacy and his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) at the University of Washington in Seattle, then completed his orthodontic residency in San Antonio, Texas.
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD): University of Washington, Seattle
- Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS): University of Washington, Seattle
- Orthodontic Residency, Certificate: San Antonio, TX
That pharmacy background gives Dr. Stoner an unusually deep understanding of the science behind healthy, lasting results, and his residency training sharpened the clinical precision he is known for today.
Board Certification and Naval Service
Dr. Stoner is a board-certified orthodontist, a credential earned by only a portion of practicing orthodontists who choose to complete the American Board of Orthodontics’ rigorous examination process. Board certification reflects an ongoing commitment to the highest standards of care.
For more than 16 years, Dr. Stoner served our country in the U.S. Navy as a dentist and orthodontist. He served as a faculty member in the Orthodontic Department at the Naval Postgraduate Dental School in Bethesda, Maryland, where he helped train the next generation of military orthodontists. During his career he was selected as Chief Resident, and in 2019 his work was recognized with the Top Resident Case award at the American Association of Orthodontists annual meeting.
Professional memberships: American Board of Orthodontics, American Association of Orthodontists, North Carolina Association of Orthodontists.
A Patient-First Approach to Care
Dr. Stoner and his team treat every patient like family. He takes the time to listen, explain each option in plain language, and build a treatment plan around your goals, whether that means traditional braces, Invisalign, Angel clear aligners, or early, airway-focused, or surgical care. Using modern tools like the iTero digital scanner, he makes treatment more comfortable and more predictable, so you always know what to expect.
Beyond the Office
Originally from Washington state, Dr. Stoner and his family have lived all over the world, including time in Spain and Japan. He and his wife Jessica have four boys. When he is not creating smiles, Dr. Stoner is an avid reader, a baker, a golfer, and a runner, and you will often find the family enjoying boating and water sports, cheering on the boys at football games, or serving alongside their church.
