Robert Stoner Orthodontics proudly supports Smile for a Lifetime, a charitable foundation that provides free orthodontic care to deserving children and teens who could not otherwise afford it. Our local chapter awards orthodontic scholarships to young people in the Greensboro and Summerfield area based on financial and orthodontic need.
We believe a healthy, confident smile can change a young person’s life. Through the Smile for a Lifetime Foundation, we are able to give that gift to deserving patients in our community who need it most, building self-confidence, inspiring hope, and transforming lives one smile at a time.
About Smile for a Lifetime
The Smile for a Lifetime Foundation is an international, nonprofit charitable organization that provides orthodontic treatment to individuals who may not have the means to afford it. Founded in 2008, the foundation serves children and teens who face financial hardship, unique circumstances, and a genuine need for orthodontic care.
Our local chapter was established in 2010 by Dr. Mark Reynolds, who founded this practice. With his leadership and the support of local dental professionals, the program has donated more than $300,000 in orthodontic care to deserving young patients across our community. Today, Dr. Robert Stoner proudly carries that commitment forward, working to keep life-changing orthodontic care accessible to those who need it most.
Who Qualifies
Scholarships are selected by a local screening committee, and the process is competitive. Awards are limited and based on financial need, orthodontic need, and a complete, accurate application. Successful applicants are generally between the ages of 11 and 18 and have:
- A family income no greater than 200 percent of the federal poverty level
- Good dental hygiene and a dental checkup within the past 6 months
- A functional or aesthetic need for braces
- Enrollment in good standing at school
- A positive attitude
- A willingness to follow the orthodontist’s treatment plan
- A positive letter of recommendation from a community leader or teacher
The national office requires a $20 nonrefundable application fee and, if you are approved for treatment, a $480 administrative fee. Financial assistance is available for applicants who are unable to pay these fees.
How to Apply
If you would like to apply, you can do so through the Smile for a Lifetime application page. Once your application and all required materials are received, the Smile for a Lifetime national office will contact you within 30 days.
